Rural Delivery Review.
As part of the public service reform Lord Haskins has been looking, since December 2002, at front line rural delivery services. He is trying to find cost effective ways of making delivery to rural customers more joined up and flexible. Seven guiding principles were published on 5 June and consultation continues until the autumn when his final report will be published.  The most important principles for tackling poverty work is that delivery of economic and social policy must be devolved in accordance with the principles of public service reform, and that policy development should be managed separately from policy delivery. Organisations under scrutiny include  DEFRA and its family of NGPB's, the Countryside Agency and English Nature. More information from the website or 08459 335577.
